About Emily

Emily is a filmmaker and casting director originally from Austin, TX now based in LA. She grew up sneaking into theaters and shows way too early and voraciously consuming the public library VHS collection. Drawn to stories of complicated women, mixed motives and making mistakes, Emily's work spans drama, comedy, narrative and documentary. Her films have screened and won awards at festivals across the country and abroad including Pendance, Tacoma, Portland, Cine Las Americas, The Valley, Sherman Oaks, Hill Country, Nevada Women’s, Mujeres Internacionales, Houston Latino, San Francisco Latino, The Front Fest, Immigration Film Festival and many more. Her television credits include PBS, TLC, A&E and the Fusion Network. She is a dual US-Canadian citizen.

Her casting career spans feature film, shorts, television series, music videos and commercials and includes SAG and non-union productions. Since her start in casting, Emily has worked on many award-winning films and series including the Tribeca indie hit "Lost Soulz", Warner Bros "Midnight Special", HBO's "Love & Death" and many award-winning shorts. With an MFA in Film Production from the University of Texas at Austin, she brings a keen understanding of the filmmaking process which allows her to better support filmmakers through the casting process. Films Emily has cast have gone onto screen and win awards at Tribeca, Heartland International, Raindance, DIFF, Indy Shorts, Oak Cliff, Lone Star, Tallgrass and more.

Emily is the 2024 WIF Casting Fellow and is also participating in the WIF Creative Producing fellowship. Her past fellowships and awards include the 2021 Jesse H. Jones Fellowship and the 2020 Nick Cominos Award for Documentary Filmmaking.
