About Emily

Emily is a filmmaker and casting director originally from Austin, TX now based in LA. She grew up sneaking into theaters and shows way too early and voraciously consumed the entire public library VHS collection one by one. Drawn to stories of complicated women, mixed motives and making mistakes, Emily's work spans drama, comedy, narrative and documentary. Her films have screened and won awards at festivals across the country and abroad including Pendance, Tacoma, Portland, Cine Las Americas, The Valley, Hill Country and Immigration Film Festival. Her credits include PBS, TLC, A&E and the Fusion Network. She is a dual US-Canadian citizen with a background in reality TV and adventure, and misses Vulcan Video and I Luv Video like she misses the days before the internet.

Her casting career spans feature film, shorts, television series, music videos and commercials and includes SAG and non-union productions. Since her start in casting, Emily has worked on many award-winning films and series including the Tribeca indie hit "Lost Soulz", Warner Bros "Midnight Special", HBO's "Love & Death" and many award-winning shorts. With an MFA in Film Production from the University of Texas at Austin, she brings a keen understanding of the filmmaking process which allows her to better support filmmakers through the casting process.

Emily is the 2024 WIF Casting Fellow and is also participating in the WIF Creative Producing fellowship. Her past fellowships and awards include the 2021 Jesse H. Jones Fellowship and the 2020 Nick Cominos Award for Documentary Filmmaking.
